Welcome to the GRAPHIA Industry Hub: Connecting Research, Innovation, and Impact

Authors: Ursula Rabar and Julien Homo

The GRAPHIA project is pleased to announce the launch of the Industry Hub, a dedicated space designed to strengthen collaboration between the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research community and industry stakeholders.

It includes use cases from commercial, private as well as public organisations working with or providing services to the commercial sector. It showcases how cutting-edge knowledge graph technologies can transform real-world products, services and workflows across sectors. It highlights practical applications where open, interoperable SSH data infrastructure adds value for organisations: from innovative SMEs, publishers and data providers to established tech providers. This hub connects research expertise with commercial needs, accelerating adoption of knowledge graph-enabled services in diverse markets.

Why an Industry Hub?

The challenges and opportunities addressed by GRAPHIA extend beyond academia. Advances in AI, knowledge graph technologies, data interoperability, and digital infrastructures are increasingly shaping how organisations access, analyse, and apply information. At the same time, businesses are seeking new ways to leverage trusted data sources and innovative technologies to drive decision-making, develop products, and address societal challenges.

The Industry Hub responds to this growing need for collaboration. By creating a dedicated space for dialogue and knowledge exchange, GRAPHIA aims to bridge the gap between advanced SSH research and practical applications across a range of sectors. The Hub will serve as a gateway for industry and other stakeholders interested in learning about GRAPHIA’s activities, exploring emerging technologies, and identifying opportunities to contribute to and benefit from the project’s developments.

Building a Community Around Innovation

The success of GRAPHIA depends on bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise. Researchers contribute deep domain knowledge and methodological excellence, while industry partners offer practical insights, technological capabilities, and an understanding of market needs. By creating opportunities for interaction, the Industry Hub seeks to encourage mutual learning and foster collaborations that can generate lasting impact.

Through the Hub, members of the GRAPHIA community will be able to discover relevant use cases, access insights from experts, and learn about opportunities for collaborative activities. Early examples already living in the Hub range from a book-discoverability service developed with Taylor & Francis, to knowledge-graph classification of market-sensitive corporate disclosures with the Polish Press Agency, to AI-powered enrichment of real-estate data with Genius Loci, spanning publishing, financial media and geospatial services.

We also hope the Hub will become a space where emerging ideas can be discussed openly, helping to identify new applications for GRAPHIA’s technologies and resources while supporting innovation across sectors.

Join the Conversation

The launch of the Industry Hub marks an important milestone in GRAPHIA’s commitment to openness, collaboration, and impact. We invite our GRAPHIA community, industry representatives, technology providers, innovators, and all interested stakeholders to explore the Hub. Additionally, GRAPHIA is still welcoming suggestions from commercial organisations based in the European Research Area and working with SSH such as (but not limited to): scholarly and trade publishers; EdTech and research infrastructure providers; data providers and aggregators; SMEs; start-ups; consultancies; organisations exploring data-driven or AI-supported SSH services; and others. No prior knowledge graph expertise is required, just a motivation to innovate! You can send us your suggestions at contact@graphia-ssh.eu.
